About Us
Project Management involves the planning, design, development and coordination of various projects, which include capital and non-capital improvements, facility repairs and safety related projects. The process involves the identification of a community need or deficiency; the preparation of studies, concept, master, or site plans as required for the implementation of the project; the securing of the necessary funding; and the project management responsibilities for the design and/or construction process.
Particular projects in recent years include Centennial Park, two downtown Parking Ramps, a new docking system at Credit Island, improvements to South Lindsay Park and the Water Taxi dock Improvements; restoration of the LeClaire House; implementation of the Nahant Marsh Master Plan; design and construction of the community gateways; downtown Streetscape plans; Sky Bridge construction; project coordination and management for the new Branch Library, Police Station, the American Discovery Trail access ramp to the Government Bridge and the future American Discovery Trail bridge from Credit Island to S. The strong emphasis on riverfront development is reflected in the staffing for the Levee Improvement Commission and the Riverfront Task Force. The Davis-Bacon prevailing wage oversight and monitoring for federally funded construction projects is also a responsibility of this division.
