Mission Statement:
Davenport Parks and Recreation enhances the quality of life through recreation, and stewardship of public lands.  Our goal is to offer a broad range of recreational activities that provides opportunities for all the residents of Davenport and beyond, with programs for all ages and abilities.  We value diversity, innovation, collaboration, environmental sustainability, professionalism, safety, inclusion, and most of all Fun in all that we do.
 
Davenport Parks and Recreation is one of the most diverse departments in the City:

·         Serving over 150,000 people in parks, recreation, golf, and environmental programs.

·         Offering more than 500 programs annually for all ages from pre-school to seniors classes.

·         Working cooperatively with 5 Friends Groups/Neighborhood Groups and Ad Hoc Citizen Groups who help extend services and protect parks.

·         Welcoming all ages with programs at 3 swimming pools, 3 community centers, 2 senior centers, 1 theater and the bandshell downtown.

·         Offering great golf and learning opportunities at 3 golf courses and 2 driving ranges.

·         Mentoring 457 area youth annually through the First Tee program at Red Hawk Golf Course.

·         Actively engaging 1038 youth and teens in camps and after school programs each year.

·         Serving skate board enthusiasts with one of the greatest skate parks in the country and disc golfers with two quality courses.

·         Looking forward to offering, in the near future, dog-off-leash-areas(DOLA), community/Urban gardens, movies/concerts in-the-park programs, mobile playground programs, spray/splash pads, and other amenities to be as inclusive of the diverse population in Davenport and its needs.

·        Caring for more than 3000 acres of natural areas and parks.

·        Mowing over 2000 acres weekly to offer pristine conditions in our parks.

·        Picking up litter and emptying 315 garbage cans everyday to keep our parks clean.

·        Grooming 41 sports fields seasonally for soccer (8) and baseball (33).

·        Keeping 28 drinking fountains accessible and in working order throughout the city parks.

·        Maintaining 27 tennis (8) and basketball (19) courts throughout the city.

·        Managing 18 miles of trails/paths to help connect people to nature and fitness while offering sustainable transportation options.

·        Cleaning 33 parks restrooms daily.

·        Inspecting 28 playgrounds everyday for safety and accessibility.

·        Providing access to the Mississippi River and beyond through 2 public boating docks.

·        Protecting and caring for all trees and native plants throughout city parks.

·        Adding to Davenport's beauty with a conservatory, 2 public gardens, and numerous floral displays throughout Davenport's parks.

·         Issuing 1395 permits annually for picnics, weddings, and special events in our parks and facilities.
