Captain Jane Imming serves as the Accreditation Manager. The Davenport Police Department has endeavored, achieved and received certification as an accredited law enforcement agency. The accrediting body, the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies (CALEA) was created in 1979 as a credentialing authority through the joint efforts of law enforcement's major executive associations: the International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP), National Organization of Black Law Enforcement Executives (NOBLE), National Sheriff's Association (NSA); and, the Police Executive Research Forum (PERF).

The purposes of CALEA's Accreditation Programs is to improve the delivery of public safety services, primarily by: maintaining a body of standards, developed by public safety practitioners, covering a wide range of up-to-date public safety initiatives; establishing and administering an accreditation process; and recognizing professional excellence.  Through this process, the Davenport Police Department conducts thorough internal reviews based on nationally recognized standards. Policies and procedures are written, updated and administered to meet or exceed CALEA requirements.

In 2003, the Davenport Police Department earned its first law enforcement accreditation from the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies (CALEA). Since 2003, the Department has been awarded reaccreditation in 2006, 2009, 2012, and 2015. Each reaccreditation process involves thorough internal and external inspection by CALEA. The citizens of Davenport can be assured that the Davenport Police Department is operating under the best practices in the field of law enforcement.
