Block Party
Permits for block parties and parades are issued through the City Clerk's office.  Please call 563.326.6163 for more information.

Driveways
The Engineering Division of the Public Works Department issues permits for construction of driveways on City right-of-way. Locations of new driveways or widening of existing driveways, including the cutting of curbs necessary for construction, must be approved by the Engineering Division. The contractor must also have a bond and proof of insurance on file with Public Works prior to issuance of a Driveway Permit. Use this link to find out more about applicable permits, codes and inspections for sidewalk replacement and reconstruction.

Fences
Permits are generally not required to install a fence.  However, there are a number of regulations regarding placement. Fences not in compliance with the regulations may be ordered moved.  

Flammable Liquid Storage Tanks and Pumps

Floodplain Permits
Work in structures in the floodplain must adhere to certain criteria to be viable projects.

Mobile Homes
Building codes and permits protect the health and safety of the public.  When a mobile home is setup and/or placed, the 
State of Iowa requires that the utilities connected to mobile homes be inspected for health and safety of its occupants. Download the Mobile Home Setup Application and information here.

Obstructions and Encroachment
Anyone blocking the street or sidewalk with a dumpster, pod, or other equipment, must first obtain an Obstructions and Encroachments Permit.

Property owners are responsible for maintaining the city sidewalk and the boulevard abutting their property.
