Davenport Police Officer Brandon AskewBrandon Askew, who will be sworn in as a Davenport Police Officer Wednesday, was raised in Mercer County, Illinois and is a 2008 graduate of Westmer High School.

Following high school Brandon began working as an EMT for Medic EMS in Davenport. While working as an EMT he completed his Bachelor’s Degree in Law Enforcement and Justice Administration at Western Illinois University-Quad Cities Campus.

After graduation Brandon began working as a Police Officer for the City of Memphis, Tennessee. In 2015, Brandon moved back to the Quad Cities area and began working as a Deputy Sheriff for the Rock Island County Sheriff’s Department. Brandon has had specialized training in Tactical EMS and recently became SWAT certified in the State of Illinois.

Brandon is actively working towards a Master’s Degree in Criminal Justice Administration from Columbia Southern University. Brandon’s wife Jen will be pinning his badge.

Brandon will now be assigned to the Department’s Field Training Program, coordinated by Lieutenant Gil Proehl. For the next four and one-half months, he will receive intense, in-the-field, "one on one" training from a cadre of certified, seasoned, Field Training Officers.
