Census 2020

The 2020 Census will be here soon and data collected helps determine federal funding into Davenport for programs like Medicare and Medicaid, Head Start, free and reduced school lunches, road construction and how many people will represent us in state and federal legislatures.

Fill out the Census at my2020census.gov.

Census Day is April 1. Don't get fooled and fill out your form. Here is an example of a Census mailing that will start appearing in mailboxes in March.

Here are some basics about the Census.

There are strict laws governing confidentiality, both for census takers and in the release of detailed information. Online responses are secured by multiple layers of encryption and isolated from online access as soon as you hit submit.

In mid-March most addresses in the Quad-Cities will receive a postcard with instructions to participate online,
but you will also have the option to respond via phone or mail. Through spring and summer 2020, Census Bureau employees will follow up in-person at addresses that have not yet been counted.

In past censuses, reporting rates have been low in some areas of Davenport. Let’s avoid this in 2020! When a
Census postcard arrives at your residence, don’t ignore it. Be counted. Tell your family and friends their
participation is needed. We don’t want to lose out on vital resources but want to keep growing and being a
strong, vibrant place where families thrive.
