Top 5 Parks Activities Fall and Winter 2020

Top 5 Activities

There is so much to do in the fall and winter in Davenport! Davenport Parks and Recreation has opportunities for the outdoors enthusiasts as well as those that might like to stay indoors, or in the comfort of your car! We are excited to highlight a few programs that might not always make the activity list ― you'll definitely want to add them to your calendar this year!
While you may be familiar with some of the programs, events and venues that Davenport has to offer, others are some of the best kept secrets in the Quad Cities.

Here are our Top 5 Favorites that you can check out this fall and winter:

Every winter Vander Veer Conservatory is transformed for the winter theme. It has been 100 years since the first Roaring Twenties, but Vander Veer is bringing it back and it’s going to be the bee’s knees. All the fellas and dolls are invited to ‘Have a Roaring Good Time’ at the Vander Veer Conservatory Holiday Floral and Light Display. The hanging lights along the Grand Allée and other lighted garden areas are also worth a visit!

When the sun goes down on Saturday evenings, the glitz and glamour light up even more spectacularly! The Conservatory hours will be extended until 7 PM Saturday, November 28th, December 5th, 12th, 19th, and 26th. The conservatory will be closed November 26th and 27th, December 24th, 25th, and January 1st.

2. 3 v 3 Santa Shootout

This new small-sided tournament is a great way to spend your holiday break!
Come have a blast at The River’s Edge Santa Shootout. Grab a few friends and compete for championship t-shirts.

The Santa Shootout is a 3 v 3 indoor youth soccer tournament that allows fast-pace competition with fewer players available during the holidays. More information in the special events section or online at

3. Holiday Lights at Fejervary Park

We have been expanding our light with the addition of our park-and-watch light display at Fejervary Learning Center.
Fejervary Holiday Lights is a seasonal holiday lights display at Fejervary Learning Center. The event is park-and-watch (not a drive through). Parking and viewing areas are listed on the event map:

The light show is synced to music and runs from November 28th through January 2nd. The show begins every evening at 5 PM with an introduction from Mother Goose and the final show starts at 9:30 PM (shows last 15 minutes and run every half-hour beginning at 5 PM).

4. Junior Theatre VIRTUAL CLASSES

Have you heard? Davenport Junior Theatre (DJT) has gone virtual! DJT is offering a new line-up of classes in a different environment, now available anywhere on any device! Even though they might not be in-person, the instructors are still bringing all the same energy and passion for theatre and dance!

Don't forget the free DJT Learning Channel, too! Join all of your favorite instructors on the brand new YouTube Channel for free learning fun. Check it out for Dance, Theatre, Performances, and More!

Red Hawk is a great venue to learn the game of golf, and more!
The Quad Cities First Tee calls Red Hawk Golf and Learning Center home, but the course offers way more than golf! Instructors are available to help teach the game to the next generation and instill the love for the game, call today 563-386-0348 or visit

Red Hawk also features a large driving range, practice putting and chipping greens, and features a 3-hole short course.
If you're looking to try something new, FootGolf might be it! Combining golf and soccer, Red Hawk has 9 holes to test your kicking and precision soccer skills!
