Government Accessible to Everyone Project

Description/Goal

Cross-departmental team focused on undertaking a holistic approach to refreshing the City's brand management strategies while using the evolving communication and engagement tools to most effectively engage stakeholders.

Current Update

In 3Q, a CEC, an audio/visual consulting firm, was selected as a consultant through an RFP process to assist the City in replacing the AV equipment in council chambers. CEC has provided the IT department with a plan and IT is currently purchasing all the new equipment. The new equipment will be installed in council chambers in December.  In addition, Guide Studios has completed their work on the City's rebranding effort and the new brand will be placed for Council adoption in November. The City has also hired Mindfire consulting for strategic communication assistance and will be working with them on social media optimization in 2020.

Previous Status

In 2Q, the administration department hired the new digital media coordinator. This is a new position to the communications division. The communications representatives from all departments now meet on a monthly basis to coordinate the monthly editorial calendar for social media and discuss other communications issues throughout the city. As of July 1, the City is no longer broadcasting on Mediacom's public access channels. All City Council meetings, along with board and commission meetings, are accessible to view via the City's website. Guide Studios has been selected as the firm for the City's rebranding project. Work with Guide Studios will begin in July and is expected to be complete in October.
